Be Mission-Critical ....Or Be Gone: HR At The Crossroads
Today's companies face a competitive landscape that is continuously changing. They realize that traditional market differentiators - while still valuable - cannot sustain competitive advantage. This leaves many CEO's looking for that next breakthrough that will drive top-line growth and increase the company's value. Rarely - if ever - will they look to their HR leadership for that answer. While most agree that effective HR practices are central to a company's success, such practices are normally viewed as soft, intangible activities that are divorced from the company's core value drivers. Even where HR's agenda is based on its company's business plan, the HR leverage points typically involve the middle of the financial statement such as costs, productivity, resources, and processes. And many companies are already pretty effective at leveraging those levers to enhance corporate value. But HR's impact on top-line growth -- ie. revenues -- has been limited. This will soon leave many HR functions vulnerable and HR leaders wondering how they can forge a more "valuable" link between their HR and Business strategies. This presentation describes the powerful results that can be achieved when HR leaders focus on their company's external value chain - i.e. customers and suppliers. It outlines the unique steps a number of companies are taking to create tangible, economic value through their HR strategy and related processes. It will demonstrate how one particular company raised its HR function to an unprecedented level of "value-add" with a unique solution for increasing top-line growth. The result was a mission-critical HR function with undeniable business relevance.
